Village in Grimes County founded about 1885 on the Gulf, Colorado
& Santa Fe Railroad; thrived as agricultural center and wagon-making
site in late 1800's. Each fall the community about 45 miles north
of Houston, on Texas 105/F.M. 1774, is major gateway to the Texas
Renaissance Festival.

Attractions
- KING'S ORCHARD-Pick your own fruit during season in
the "King's" orchard near the Texas Renaissance Festival
grounds. Select fresh, plump strawberries, blackberries, raspberries,
and blueberries; or large, juicy peaches, plums, or apples. All
grown naturally and virtually chemical free. Orchards usually
open Mar.-Sept. The "King" doesn't allow anyone in
orchard during rain or lightning storms. During inclement weather,
call the orchard to check picking conditions. Off F.M. 1774 south
