Founded in 1917 as terminus of Santa Fe RR spur from Lubbock;
named for railroad executive. Soon became major cattle shipping
point. Today Seagraves is a center for area ranches. Attractive
Gaiones County Park with picnicking, playground, gold, is just
7 miles south on U.S. 62,385. Quanah Parker birthplace is 20 miles
east at Cedar Lake with a marker at the sight.
